I have been a reptile enthusiast for as long as I care to remember, in excess of 40 years. I began my interest as a young boy by keeping Grass Snakes (Natrix natrix helvetica), Adders (Vipera berus) and Common Lizards (Zootica vivipara), which I would catch locally and bring home.
Over the years I have kept innumerable reptile species; all the usual 'pet shop' varieties, various Boas and Pythons, many venomous species and a good few infrequently encountered species. I worked for some years as a professional herpetologist, but these days I am a hobbyist.
Garter Snakes have been a recurring theme in my collection throughout the years. I have always found Thamnophis to be one of the most interesting, beautiful and complex genera. Nowadays I keep nothing else.
